The Banks Surgery runs a Telephone Consultation (DrFirst) model.
Booking an Appointment
or requesting a visit:
The best way is by phone
Ring the Surgery on 01509 812343
Give a brief description of your problem to the reception team
(You don’t have to do this, but it helps us to know who the best person is for you to talk to).
One of the following will then happen:
- You will be put through to speak to a doctor or nurse for a consultation by phone. They will then book you an appointment whenever necessary
- Your telephone number will be taken and a doctor or nurse will call you back. They will then book you an appointment where appropriate.
The Practice is open from 8:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday with the exception of Thursdays when we close at 1pm. An emergency service operates outside of these times. Surgeries run every morning and afternoon that the surgery is open. Appointment times vary within those parameters.
Your appointment
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
- on a video call
- by text or email
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- using the GP online system – AccuRx
- phone us on 01509 812343, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6pm

If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
Are made to patients who are medically unable to attend the surgery by arrangement with the clinical staff directly.
